SAM Delivers its IP Routing System Portfolio now with 25, 40, 50 and 100GbE interfaces

At NAB 2017, SAM is pleased to announce the availability of its IP Routing System now with support for 25, 40, 50 and 100 GbE technology.

Robert Szabó-Rowe, SAM’s EVP and General Manager, Live Production and Infrastructure said, “In the past year we have been working on some key projects with customers to prove the technology and we are pleased to now announce for general release our IP routing system, delivering on our customer commitments globally with both pure IP and hybrid deployments.”
SAM’s IP Routing System Portfolio includes a unified control and monitoring system, IP gateway devices, IP processing and multiviewers. Szabo-Rowe adds, “With a recent win at Timeline, as well as the findings from our IP Barometer survey, we’re predicting that 2017 is going to be a big year for IP and SAM is well-placed to serve broadcasters as they actively transition to IP.”

Key products in SAM’s IP Routing System include:

IP Gateway Devices
The SAM range of IP Gateway devices provide unique switching capabilities, signal flow redundancy and system wide IP signal timing for broadcasters over IP while facilitating seamless integration between legacy SDI and IP live production environments.

Devices include SAM’s IQMIX range of cards, which are available in 10GbE, 40GbE as well as the industry’s latest 25GbE technology, providing the highest density of SDI to IP conversion. SAM’s portfolio also includes the IQAMD card, which offers similar gateway functionality for audio conversion to and from MADI.

In addition, SAM has also added native 40GbE IP interfaces to its Sirius 800 advanced hybrid processing range of SDI routers and the Kahuna family of production switchers.  IntoPix’s TICO mezzanine compression support has also been introduced to the Kahuna IP range.

IP Processing and Multiviewers
SAM’s KudosPro IP family of format and frame-rate converters and its IQEDGE processing platform add realtime processing capabilities, including frame synchronization, up / down / cross conversion, Dolby encoding / decoding and logo insertion. Advanced audio routing and processing of multiple AES67 streams, as required for complex audio breakaway workflows, are addressed through SAM’s Audio XS product.

Complementing SAM’s IP processing portfolio is SAM’s IP Multiviewer product range including its MV-820 IP. The MV-820 IP offers 48 inputs and up to 12 outputs at 3G via 50GbE network interfaces in a compact 2RU frame whilst also providing support for UHD monitoring. In addition, SAM has recently introduced its MV-805 software enabled Multiviewer solution based on a COTS platform, utilizing 100G connectivity.

Underpinning SAM’s IP Routing System is support for multiple signal types including SMPTE ST 2022-6 with ST 2022-7 redundancy; VSF TR-03 and TR-04 as well as support for the VC2 HQ (SMPTE ST 2042) mezzanine compression system.

Unified Control and Monitoring System
SAM has incorporated support for IP within its existing control system technology, Orbit. The first applications of Orbit, SAM’s brand new next generation control, configuration and monitoring solution will be on show at NAB. Orbit has been designed to enable users to manage and view all of their control, configuration and monitoring functions via one autonomous system.

SAM is a global reseller for Arista and Juniper network switches and provides professional services support globally, in order to deliver a complete IP routing solution for its customers. SAM is a member of AIMS and a principal member of AMWA.
