The 40-289 converter is used to convert HDMI digital video-audio signals to analog component video (Y, Pb, Pr) and analog audio signals (L+R). The converter can only convert interlaced video to interlaced video and progressive scan video to progressive scan video so 480p in and 480p out, 1080i in and 1080i out. This unit will not convert 720p into 1080i out. Please make sure you are aware of the displays analog component video’s resolutions, if a display only goes to 720p and the HDMI source is set to 1080i or 1080p no video image will display, it will be necessary to lower the video resolution from the source to match the displays maximum video resolution. If you experience video color issues, a small opening is accessible from the front panel next to the HDMI jack, use a small 1.4mm slotted screwdriver into the hole and turn the small potentiometer as necessary to adjust for the proper color setting. Typical Hookup (1) Connect a HDMI cable to the HDMI input jack of the 40-289, next connect a component video and stereo audio cable from the 40-289 to the video display inserting them into the component video and audio input jacks.
