Description

The Client

Clara Barton founded the Red Cross in 1881. Born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavors—in its international and national capacity—to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples.

The Challenge

As the need for more space and better technology became apparent in their New York City offices, the organization embarked on an ambitious project to renovate and modernize the space they had occupied for many years.  The project was designed to allow the Red Cross to continue their vital operations while construction was happening around them. TRITECH was an integral part of the construction team supporting the Red Cross end-users while simultaneously installing the new systems. TRITECH worked closely with the construction team and consultants to ensure day to day operations were not disrupted. This meant that collaboration and meeting spaces needed to be dismantled in one part of the building while others were being constructed elsewhere.

The Solutions

In collaboration with the AV design firm of Cerami and Associates, TRITECH provided several conference rooms of varying sizes, large displays for gathering spaces, a large divisible space with new audio and video projection systems capable of accommodating hundreds of guests.  This space is multi-purpose and can be divided into various configurations physically and through the AV control system for maximum flexibility.  Today, many customers are looking for their spaces to be flexible and functional. In addition, TRITECH also provided much of the technology used in the Emergency Operations Center which is the heartbeat of the Red Cross operation.

The Outcome

TRITECH worked with the construction and consulting team to help produce a highly functional yet practical space that has exceeded all expectations for the Red Cross. They now feel comfortable equipped to meet their communication needs globally from their New York Office. The gathering spaces and conference rooms allow users to wirelessly share content on high resolution displays and communicate with people all over the world. Remote collaboration is easily and comfortably accomplished. The large multi-purpose rooms allow local and remote presentations to very large or small groups simultaneously. The Emergency Operations Center uses AV technology to help operators, technicians, and specialists to manage the various humanitarian activities happening real-time around the world. TRITECH is proud to have contributed to the project’s success and in a small way feel that we have helped strengthen the Red Cross so they may continue to provide the worlds victims with their compassion and support when most needed.
