Hono AVB Controller adds Unique Abilities

NEWCASTLE, DE (Sept/07/2016) AudioScience, a leader of professional audio peripherals in the installed sound and radio broadcast industries, has announced the availability of the Hono Audio-Video-Bridging (AVB) Controller, featuring unique abilities not found in other AVB controllers on the market. .

Introduced at InfoComm 2016, the Hono AVB Controller is intended for use with the AudioScience Hono family of AVB products and other 3rd party AVB devices. It provides configuration and routing of IEEE 1722 audio stream formats using the IEEE 1722.1 AVDECC protocol and is built upon the foundation of the open source avdecc-lib IEEE 1722.1 library.

Features available in the controller include:

  • Selection of multi-channel audio stream formats of up to 32 channels.
  • Dynamic mappings, allowing individual channels to be selected from incoming streams and routed to outgoing streams.
  • Save and restore device presets and audio stream routing.
  • Lock and unlock devices.
  • Extensive diagnostic abilities such as latency, 802.1AS link delay, current 802.1AS GrandMaster and 802.1ASGrandMaster transitions.

The Hono AVB Controller currently operates on Windows 7 and 10, 32 and 64bit operating systems. An Apple Macintosh OS X version will be available by the end of 2016.

The controller is free when used on AVB networks containing at least one AudioScience AVB device (Hono AVB Mini, Custom or Virtual Sound Card (VSC)). Without an AudioScience device, the controller will operate in an evaluation mode for 90 days from the date of installation. A full license costs US$295.
