Backstage Back on Stage: 5 tips to get your Event Masters ready

June 7, 2021 - Barco is excited to see that after more than a year of strict stay-at-home orders, there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel. As live in-person events are slowly taking up in some regions, we see our partners in the industry motivated to get things going again. And to support you in doing so, we’ve drawn up a quick checklist to get your Barco Event Master systems (and operators) ready for the post-COVID events.

Dust off your gear

If you’re familiar with our Event Master portfolio, you know that we insist on delivering sturdy systems with reliable performance. But even the most rugged ones deserve some pampering now and then… That’s why it may be a good idea to do a clean-up of your cards and blow the dust out of the slots with compressed air. Check the Event Master user guide for more details on periodic maintenances.

Polish your operator skills

We understand that after all this time it might also be a bit dusty in your head… That’s why we’ve put together an online training program specifically aimed at the E2 and S3 operators who could use a quick refresh of the system. We’ll introduce you to the latest Event Master functionalities, but more importantly, we’ll be answering all your questions that might come up after the long period without live shows.

If you’re interested in joining one of these classes, please send an e-mail with subject "Event Master training sept 2021" to Laurent Theurin for EMEA region, Benjamin Yap for APAC and China or Vincent Ayala if you’re based in the U.S.

Software updates

Over the last months, we did release a couple of new features for our image processing products, so make sure that your system is updated with the latest firmware versions. Some important highlights include Tally indicators, automatic input failover and Multi Operator functions. You can read more about those in this post or check the YouTube channel for a more elaborate explanation of all the cool stuff the new firmware has to offer.

If you want to stay informed about available future updates, make sure to subscribe to the myBarco support page of your presentation switcher and keep an eye on your mailbox for notifications.

Shake your configuration

Perhaps it’s also time to look at the hardware of your configuration. With our new input and output cards you can easily update the modular E2 and S3 units to expand your possibilities. The Generation 2 cards double the resolutions supporting up to 2x 4K@60p and the new HDMI 2.0 output card adds a ton of extra functionalities to the Multiviewer. And remember that we also have the EX for extra processing power. You can use the EX Fiber up to 300m and add up to eight extra HD inputs and outputs.

If you’re interested to learn more about these cards or the EX, don’t hesitate to reach out via forms on the product pages.

Bonus tip: Follow our LinkedIn page and/or subscribe for the Barco Entertainment newsletter to stay up-to-date with all the new stuff!

Conclusion

With these 4+1 tips your Barco Event Master systems are more than ready for when events ramp up again! And if there’s anything else we can help you with to switch back on with full confidence, let us know! Can’t wait to see you all back in action again!

By the way, we also launched a similar checklist for your Barco projector fleet. You can find it here.
