Description

Most college campuses are challenged to get the most ‘bang for the buck” when it comes to new construction and remodeling. Texas State University chose CCI’s Active Learning Clusters, E-kiosks, and AdapTables for their 2nd floor remodel project.

It was very important for the college to select furniture that would not only accommodate today’s requirements but would also be flexible enough for future needs. For example, they originally had hundreds of Lenovo all-in-one desktop computers that would need to be incorporated. Computer Comforts Active Learning Cluster was the perfect fit, since it offered a “center core” for cable management and power supply. In the future, the college plans to phase out these computers for a BYOD workspace. Planning for the future, CCI was able to install desktop power and USB charging for laptops and mobile devices.

The furniture committee needed to plan for today and tomorrow. “Funding for these projects only comes along so often. We needed to choose furniture that wouldn’t be obsolete in a few years”, said Atkins Fleming, Assistant Director of Learning Spaces.

Speaking of flexibility, we also installed our freestanding trapezoid-shaped AdapTables. These movable tables are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and can easily be reconfigured for changing requirements. Mobile white boards were included in this area for collaborative work.

Finally, like most learning spaces, printing stations were also an important piece of the puzzle. Texas State selected CCI’s e-Kiosk for this requirement. A clean modern design combined with an electronics bay make these “walk-up” print stations very functional. An ADA model is also available.

It is usually very expensive to transform a traditional library into a modern Learning Resource Center. The folks at Texas State were pleasantly surprised by how affordable these furnishings can be.
