Ensemble Designs Debuts Bi-Directional! DualPath Signal Multiplexing at IBC 2016
Posted on Thursday, July 14, 2016

GRASS VALLEY, CA, 14 July 2016 – Ensemble Designs, manufacturer of Video and Audio Routing, Processing, Display, and Effects Systems, will debut DualPath Signal Multiplexing at IBC 2016 in Amsterdam.

DualPath carries two video signals in a single channel’s bandwidth. Add a second live camera feed from a News OB, or carry two cameras back from a remote venue. DualPath delivers the two, independent signals back to the studio. They are genlocked and timed, ready to take to air.

Because it operates only at the end points of a transmission link, it’s completely compatible with users’ existing systems and infrastructure – be it copper, fiber, or IP. It supports 720P, 1080I, and 1080P formats with tremendous fidelity and transparency.

DualPath is available in 4 different models of the Ensemble BrightEye NXT line of compact routers. Combined with the NXT’s I/O flexibility, DualPath can be used with SDI, Fiber, HDMI, and IP sources and destinations. It incorporates Ensemble’s proprietary image processing, with upsampling to 8:8:8 resolution for the most faithful results possible. DualPath is incorporated into the scaling and frame synchronization process in the NXT Clean Switches, so there is no latency penalty.

With an NXT at each end of the link, DualPath can be used bi-directionally, with two feeds traveling in each direction. The DualPath signal can be carried by SDI, Fiber, and HDMI. With the NXT 450 Clean Streaming Router, DualPath can travel by IP over the Internet – across town or around the world.

NXT routers are only 1/3 of a rack unit, offering an unprecedented level of feature integration in a remarkably small package. They are great choice for portable systems, news and production OBs, flypacks, remote studios, and distance backhaul.
