Kramer Introduces New High Performance ProScale™ Presentation Scaler/Switcher with Silicon Optix HQV® Processing
VP-728 Expands on Kramer ProScale Series’ Success with Incredible Scaling Performance and HDMI Inputs and Outputs

Jerusalem, Israel – January 28, 2009 – Kramer Electronics, Ltd., a worldwide supplier of audio, video and computer graphics signal distribution, switching and processing equipment for the broadcast, production, security, education, home theater and Pro AV presentation markets, is pleased to announce the introduction of the VP-728 ProScale presentation scaler/switcher. The VP-728 is a 9-input scaler/switcher that sets new quality and performance benchmarks in the Kramer line up of ProScale scalers and scaler/switchers with the incorporation of Silicon Optix HQV video processing.

The VP-728 improves upon the high quality scaling technology and ease-of-use found in Kramer’s previous ProScale digital scaler/switcher models: the VP-719xl, VP-720xl and VP-724xl. HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) processing represents the state-of-the-art in video processing technology, with the highest quality de-interlacing, noise reduction, and scaling performance for both standard-definition and high-definition signals. This model establishes a new level of price performance for the Pro AV and residential markets.

The VP-728 is HDTV and HDCP compatible offering 720p, 1080i and 1080p HDTV output resolutions as well as numerous other user-selectable pre-defined output resolutions and one user definable output resolution setting.

The VP-728 presentation scaler/switcher employs Kramer’s FTB™ (Fade-Thru-Black) switching for high quality, glitch-free switching. The VP-728 can switch between any of 9 inputs that include 3-wire universal video inputs on RCA connectors (each can be composite video, s-Video or component video as chosen from the menu), 2 computer graphics video inputs on 15-pin HD connectors and 2 HDMI inputs. There is also 1 USB input for uploading JPEG images and installing convenient firmware updates. The unit has both an HDMI output and a 15-pin HD output that are both simultaneously available, unless the source information is HDMI with HDCP copy protection. In that case, only the HDMI output will be active. The unit also accepts stereo audio inputs for each of the 6 analog inputs. The VP-728 will output both analog stereo audio and S/PDIF audio. Also, any audio associated with one of the analog inputs will be embedded in the HDMI output signal.

The VP-728 incorporates Kramer’s new K-IIT XL™ picture-in-picture image insertion technology. K-IIT XL provides ultra stable picture-in-picture, picture-and-picture, and split screen capability. Any video source can be inserted into or positioned next to a computer graphics video source or vice versa with window positioning and sizing controls. The unit also has Kramer’s Projector Anywhere™ technology for image rotation and projector keystone correction.

The VP-728 includes all of the great features associated with Kramer’s renown line of ProScale digital scaler/switchers such as multiple aspect ratio support, a built-in time base corrector, a built-in Proc Amp, front panel lockout, video blanking (blue or black screen selectable) and a worldwide power supply. The unit also has a new and improved user friendly menu interface and can be controlled via front panel buttons, IR remote control or via RS-232 commands.

The Kramer VP-728 ProScale presentation scaler/switcher has begun shipping. Also available is the VP-729 with the same features as the VP-728 but also includes Ethernet control capability. Complete product information on both models can be found at www.kramerelectronics.com .
