Telemetrics’ RCCP-1 Robotic Camera Control Panel and Legislative Software installed at Plano, Texas Television

Telemetrics’ platform helps City of Plano broadcast high quality City Council, Planning and Zoning and Special Events

Mahwah, New Jersey - Telemetrics is pleased to announce the installation of its Robotic Camera Control Panel and LGS Legislative Automation Software at Plano Television in Plano, Texas.  The City of Plano has upgraded their television facility, replacing 15-year-old SD cameras with HD cameras and lenses, and adding a modern control system to provide more dynamic camera moves and more points of view.  With the new Telemetrics software it is now possible for a single operator to pan, tilt, and zoom the cameras from the control room to produce tighter, cleaner, and higher quality broadcasting for the City Council, Planning and Zoning meetings as well as other special meetings and events.

“The RCCP-1-LGS platform made sense for the City of Plano,” explained Anthony Cuomo, president of Telemetrics.  “They were looking for an automated system that would allow a single operator to run council meetings, and that’s what our platform is designed to do. With intuitive presets and an easy-to-use touchscreen interface, an operator can manage numerous seats and multiple cameras to easily produce a high-quality broadcast.”

The Telemetrics’ RCCP-1 (Robotic Camera Control Panel) is a single, integrated control surface that enables unified command over camera robotics and camera shading. The RCCP-1 also allows access to deep menu controls of broadcast cameras without the need for dedicated camera control units or paint boxes.

The Plano installation also utilizes the Telemetrics’ LGS Legislative Automation Software, which is designed specifically for use with the RCCP-1, and allows a single operator to produce live, high quality legislative and corporate meeting video content while decreasing operating expenses. An operator can caption seats, prioritize cameras, and set up wide, narrow and cover shots in advance. This enables the operator to easily and instantly manage meetings from the control room using the touchscreen or automated microphone.

The Plano Council Chamber installation features 18 seats which are covered by six cameras. Five cameras cover the room, and the sixth is a dedicated document camera.  Telemetrics’ proprietary LGS software allows the operator to create a dynamic seating chart of the Chamber area and control camera functionality using the touch screen GUI. Once settings have been created, the five active cameras pan, tilt and zoom to frame the active speaker with a touch of the screen; the speaker’s name and title can also be pre-programmed and are visible on the screen. Prioritized camera assignments route the best available camera for each shot.
