Telemetrics To Unveil New Camera/Lens Interface Unit At 2017 IBC
Posted on Friday, September 15, 2017

Independent Interface Enhances Basic CCU Functionality and Allows Studios to “Mix and Match” Shading of Robotic and Non-Robotic Cameras from a Single Control Panel.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands (September 15-19, 2017) — At the 2017 IBC Show (Stand 12.F34), Telemetrics, a leader in camera robotics and control systems, will introduce the IU-S5, the latest generation Camera/Lens Interface Unit that works in tandem with the Telemetrics RCCP control panel series. The IU-S5 features highly integrated control over all the most common broadcast cameras and lenses.

Designed for remotely operating both ENG style and studio “box” cameras, the new IU-S5 interface allows operators to quickly make adjustments to all shading and lens controls for cameras mounted in fixed positions, a boom or crane. When receiving input from the RCCP-1A controller, the IU-S5 interface relays the camera and lens control signals much like a robotic head – but in a much more compact design. It also is fully compatible with all types of virtual set configurations.

“Our line of camera and lens interfaces are popular with crews that need to have reliable control over non-robotic cameras located in hard-to-reach camera locations,” said Anthony Cuomo, President of Telemetrics. “This latest version builds upon its predecessors with new control features that make our new control interface units more powerful and flexible than ever.”

Earlier versions of the product have been used extensively in production studios and permanent remotely controlled camera installations to relay RS-232/422 and IP control data to and from the camera and RCCP-1 control panel. The new version adds the ability to mix and match robotic and non-robotic cameras (of the same or different brands) and operate them all simultaneously with a single RCCP-1 controller.

With this new introduction of the IU-S5, Telemetrics now offers remote camera control for most Grass Valley, Hitachi, Ikegami, JVC, Panasonic, and Sony cameras, as well as both analog and digital lenses from Canon and Fujinon. Auxiliary robotic devices such as all Telemetrics camera trolley and Televator® systems can also be controlled through the new IU-S5 interface converter. Power to the camera can also be supplied through the camera/lens interface unit. The IU-S5 can be mounted in a portable rack or permanent chassis with included power supplies.
