Description

VuScape Powers State-of-the-Art Newsroom

Challenge

The Lufthansa Aviation Center (LAC) in Frankfurt is one of the most exquisite modern “green buildings” in Germany, complete with nine gardens and state-of-the-art technology, with a highly effective energy-efficient construction, setting new building standards in its architectural and ecological design. The LAC is home to Lufthansa’s global newsroom, managed by Lufthansa Group’s Communications Department (FRA CI) that was seeking a new multimedia system. They needed a data management center used for instant feedback from any type of media, cross-media tracking, alerts and social listening in real-time, all to be displayed on a large 5×3 video wall as well as desktops and mobile devices, for all the employees in the newsroom to visualize real-time information, avoiding the duplication of work and shortening response times. They needed a system that can manage multiple sources and source types at once and display content on any type of display, instantly and seamlessly.

Solution

The LAC hired Cotive to design the project, who selected VuWall’s VuWall VuScape Series 3 video wall processor to power their central 5×3 video wall composed of 15 ultra-slim 55” displays, spanning 3m in height. The VuScape processes VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort and audio inputs, whose signals are transmitted via HDBaseT to the central router. Sources are displayed in various sizes and locations on the wall, providing the staff the utmost visualization flexibility. Various layouts are customized and changes are controlled using an iPad.

Results

Today, Lufthansa Group’s 24/7 Newsroom is a brilliant demonstration of state-of-the-art technology in one of Germany’s most impressive facilities. It’s “always-on” environment relies on accurate and real-time information with the utmost efficiency, essential to empower the entire communications team. VuWall’s solution has enabled the team to control what they see and visualize what they need when they need it in order to make the most timely and informed decisions. As their motto goes: “Smart insights. Strong performance.”
