T-Rex Restaurant at Downtown Disney in Orlando

Realized by: AV Stumpfl USA

Description: T-REX is a prehistoric family adventure. The new, interactive attraction restaurant features full service dining and retail space. From the moment you walk through the doors, you will be transported to a prehistoric world filled with enormous animatronic dinosaurs, meteor showers, and the exclusive Kitchen of Fire. Find your seat in the famous Ice Cave, Shark Reef, Fern Forest, Geo Room, or the Coral Reef. Each room providing a different experience from the last. Don't get too comfortable though as prehistoric creatures and dinosaurs lurk in every corner and if that's not real enough for you, enjoy the huge aquariums with fish and plant life from around the world. Watch out from above, with little notice you will be rained on with the meteor shower, illuminated by the jellyfish, or consumed by the giant octopus that makes up the bar. Little paleontologists can unearth the past in the interactive and educational dig site Paleo Zone and Discovery Dig or find hidden treasures of the past and pan for precious stones, minerals, or fossils in Discovery Creek. Guests can even take home their own creation of a dinosaur in the Build-A-Dino by Build-A-Bear Workshop.

T-REX is another venture by the design house Schussler Creative and Landry's Restaurants, along side with the very famous RainForest Cafe's. United Custom Fabricating (UCF) was contracted to handle the animatronics for the restaurant. With the addition of 23 animatronic figures ranging from a 3 foot triceratops baby to the iconic 38 foot long and 20 foot tall Tyrannosaurus Rex at the entrance. All together UCF incorporated 200+ digital outputs for the animatronic moves and 32 channels of discreet audio. UCF is also responsible for T-REX in Kansas City and RainForest Cafe's 35 locations around the world with a range of 6-12 animated characters in each locale. Another T-REX Cafe and several more RainForest Cafe's are scoped to open in the next year.
