Barco Auro 11.1 improves the “communal experience

Last month’s press conference announcing the alliance between DreamWorks Animation and Barco generated a flurry of excitement among movie industry journalists about the potential of 3D cinema audio. “Auro 11.1 is a new way to mix audio for films which should create an immersive 3D sound experience for people sitting in a theater...It's fascinating audio tech, and hopefully gains more of a foothold with this DreamWorks deal. Increasingly, the home theater is able to compete with most of what a movie theater can offer, so I'm always happy to see improvements to the communal experience, especially when it results in an experience I can't replicate in my living room.” - Juan Carlos Bagnell, YourTechReport

DreamWorks has committed to producing its next 15 animated films using Barco Auro 11.1, a revolutionary cinema audio format that envelops movie patrons with life-like sounds, from dialog to special effects. This channel-based system not only accurately replicates sounds all around and above the audience, but also represents the industry’s most cost-effective model for delivering 3D audio in today’s theaters.
