Barco redefines its biggest single-operator ultra HD rugged display for use inside mobile shelter environments
Posted on Thursday, October 3, 2013
Kortrijk, Belgium, 3 October 2013 – Visualization specialist Barco has redesigned its HD-30 high-resolution, wide-screen rugged display. The new generation features power-efficient LED backlights, highly accurate Infrared touch technology, and ultra-fast image rendering.

Low-power, low-heat LED backlights
The HD-30 – featuring a WQXGA screen resolution – is renowned for delivering bright and crisp graphics and video, enabling accurate mission planning and presentation of digital maps in their native resolution. Now equipped with energy-efficient LED backlights, Barco’s HD-30 ensures excellent dimming (100:1) and minimal power consumption (85 W typical). Additionally, a metal chassis dissipates the limited amount of heat generated by the LEDs so that no fans are needed, ensuring noiseless operation to improve operator comfort.

Technologies that make a difference
Barco’s second-generation HD-30 rugged display uses highly accurate and highly sensitive Infrared touch technology to support dual touch gestures (zoom, rotate…) and allows interaction with fingertips, gloves or stylus. The fast LCD response time (ca. 12 ms) allows fast-moving images to be displayed with vivid accuracy while the 178° wide viewing angle offers optimum viewing comfort.

The high protection level (IP64) and fully sealed design guarantee non-stop and reliable operation, even in rough conditions. Additionally, Barco’s HD-30 display is fully MIL-qualified in terms of vibration, shock and EMI/EMC, so it easily withstands the harsh environmental conditions of a typical mobile shelter or naval environment.
