Hall Research Introduces Dual PC Video & RS-232 Switch with Local and Remote User Capability

Hall Research releases a Dual PC Video and RS-232 Switch which allows one or two users to automatically access the selected PC’s Serial RS-232 Port and VGA video signal.

Tustin, California – July 27, 2009

Hall Research announces today the release of the Model SW-VRS232-2S, a Dual PC Video and RS-232 Switch with a remote user option. This switch is used to allow one or two users access to the selected PC’s Serial RS-232 Port and VGA video signal.

A typical usage for this device would be to route one or two touch-screen displays to one or two PC’s. When setup with 2 user locations, either side can automatically access the selected PC simply by touching the screen. This is made possible by the unit’s automatic RS-232 switching mechanism. One CATx cable is used to extend the video and the other is used to extend bi-directional RS-232 and supply power to the remote wallplate. The user at the local station can switch between the 2 PCs by simply pushing a button on the unit’s front panel. LED indicators provide feedback as to which PC input is selected. The remote station controls the same PC as the local.

The remote user module (Model SW-VRS232-2R) is housed in a 2-gang wall-plate and connects to the local unit via two CATx cables up to 500 ft long. No power supply is required for the wall-plate. Additionally, if control of the input station is needed at the remote station, an optional push button switch cord can be utilized (Model PB-SW). This push button plugs into the receiver wall plate and can sit by the remote LCD. It has a momentary button with built-in LED. Each time the switch is pressed, the input is toggled between PC 1 and PC 2.

“The Dual PC Video and RS-232 Switch is going to help our customers in myriads of industries,” said Ali Haghjoo, Chief Executive Officer. “We’ve been noticing increased needs for this type of solution from our customers in the medical and digital signage fields, and are excited to release it today,” continued Mr. Haghjoo.

Industries that will benefit from using the Dual PC Video and RS-232 Switch are: medical facilities, manufacturing plants, POS systems, kiosks, museums, and businesses in the hospitality industry. The SW-VRS232-2S has a suggested retail price of $425.00 and is available to purchase immediately through Hall Research’s Sales Department by calling (800) 959-6439.
