Burnsville, MN, May 2024 – Dome Productions, an industry leader in high definition and 4K broadcast productions, relies upon RTS intercom systems for their user-friendly interface and extensive adoption within the North American live sports market.
When Dome Productions began in 1989, the company focused on in-house control rooms for live events and post-production. The company expanded into the mobile vehicle business by acquiring two standard-definition trucks. Since then, Dome has grown its fleet to include 18 HD production trucks, including five 4K/UHD trucks and eight 1080p trucks. In 2016, Dome became the very first mobile truck vendor to launch a 4K HDR truck in North America. Since that time, Dome has facilitated over 1,800 4K events and is a known leader in 4K sports and entertainment productions.
“All Dome Productions' vehicles are equipped with RTS intercoms,” explains Seann Harding, Dome’s Senior Technical Manager. “The company initially deployed the largest 802 system in 1989, which later transitioned to ADAM (Advanced Digital Audio Matrix) as it became available. The reliability of RTS products is evident, with some systems still operational after 25 years.”
RTS interface cards are the core of the RTS modular digital matrix intercom concept. An array of features and connectivity options allows customization of the ADAM matrix to integrate seamlessly into a communications network. Interface cards are available to support SMPTE ST 2110, Dante, OMNEO, RVON VoIP, MADI, analog, and more. Each new generation of interface cards provides expanded possibilities for existing ADAM frames, solidifying its investment value for years to come. With features such as hot swap and SNMP support, the ADAM subassemblies ensure that users can scale their intercom systems to fit their growing needs with peace of mind.
“Dome Productions chose RTS due to its established reputation as the standard intercom system in the North American live events market,” says Roberto da Conceicao Junior, Senior Technical Manager and Project Lead of Dome’s two newest mobile facilities, Titan and Empire. “The ease of integration and workflow compatibility with freelance crews and clients played a significant role in the decision.” In addition to ADAM frames, the RTS equipment onboard Titan and Empire includes KP-Series keypanels, BP-325 beltpacks, and more.
Roberto continues, “The familiarity and overall reliability of RTS intercom systems have been notable advantages, and that’s the reason to maintain the partnership. The competitive landscape continues to evolve, with other manufacturers showcasing advancements, but we still prefer RTS.”
Reliable communications tools are extremely important for mobile vehicles utilized across various industries and events – they are TV studio control rooms on wheels. Dome Productions serves major broadcasters, production companies (including their Partners/Owners Bell Media and Rogers Media), government entities, and content creators, with a focus on sports, eSports, entertainment, and news broadcasting.
